Are you feeling frustrated with the cafeteria-style, one-size fits all approach to physical therapy offered at many clinics? If so, you’re not alone. At Sports and Wellness Physical Therapy our goal is to provide a better patient experience through customized treatment solutions. Our clinic specializes in one-on-one, research-based treatments for a wide variety of issues. We treat all our patients with compassion as we strive to understand your issue and tailor a program that ensures a successful outcome. Located in the heart of South Tampa, we are an independently owned and managed physical therapy clinic. We treat everyone, from young children to athletes and seniors who are young at heart.

ABOUT NORMAN SCHLACT

Physical Therapist + Owner

My passion for helping people to heal from injuries inspired me to become a physical therapist. In my 25-plus years of experience, I have learned that no single approach fits every individual. That’s why I tailor treatments to each person’s needs. By providing patients with a thorough explanation and plan, I’m able to ensure that they have the best possible chance at optimal health.

In order to provide the best possible care, I keep up with the latest physical therapy techniques and technologies.  Specifically, I have advanced specialized training in a broad range of treatments including:

manual therapy

muscle rebalancing

kinesiology taping

postural alignment

biochemical and ergonomic evaluation

gait training

vestibular repositioning

balance training

I have been a clinical instructor for Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistant Interns, and I continue to serve on the Advisory Committee for the St. Petersburg College Physical Therapist Assistant Program in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Growing up in Charleston, West Virginia, my father was a pharmacist and my mom an Army nurse. Their example inspired me to go into the healthcare field. I received my B.A. degree in Psychology from West Virginia University and moved to Atlanta, where I earned my Master of Physical Therapy from Emory University. Following graduation, I settled in the Tampa Bay area and have been practicing here ever since. This is where I met my wife, Debbie, and where our daughter, Isabella, was born. In our spare time, we enjoy traveling, hanging at the beach, and taking long walks with our dog, Coco.
